About the role

Responsibilities: Business Development & Portfolio Growth: Lead the expansion of consumer, retail, and personal banking lines by leveraging an existing client portfolio to significantly grow deposit liabilities, quality risk assets, and overall profitability. Strategic Market Penetration: Drive market expansion strategies across Uyo and the broader Akwa Ibom State region, identifying new high-yield business opportunities and nurturing high-net-worth relationships. Financial Management & Profitability: Oversee monthly fee structures, interest income, investment returns, and expense tracking; prepare and interpret management accounts, annual budgets, financial statements, and variance reports. Regulatory Compliance & Reporting: Ensure full operational and financial compliance by managing the preparation, interpretation, and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual regulatory returns to the CBN and NDIC. Credit Appraisal & Risk Management: Evaluate credit applications using robust credit appraisal standards and apply enterprise risk management principles to build a healthy, low-NPL risk asset portfolio. Operations & Executive Leadership: Direct daily retail banking operations, set performance benchmarks, monitor budget control, and lead business development teams toward meeting strategic growth targets. Requirements: Minimum of a degree in finance, banking, management or any other relevant field. An additional postgraduate qualification or any other professional qualification will be an advantage. Have over 10 years of banking experience Have good interpersonal skills Must have work at management level in the banking sector Have good computer skills (must be fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Conversant with preparation and interpretation of management accounts, annual accounts and other performance monitoring accounts/tools as well as analysing financial statements on a monthly basis / variances reporting. Conversant with an interpretation of monthly, quarterly and bi-annual returns to regulators such as CBN and NDIC. Conversant with budget planning and control Conversant analyzing fees, interest income, investment income, commissions and expenses to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis. Must have the ability to grow income lines, deposit liability, good risk assets and profitability Conversant with banking operations. Must have existing client portfolio to bring along Must have good credit appraisal skills and understand enterprise risk management. Understanding of the Akwa Ibom business sector will be an added advantage
