About the role

Responsibilities: Public Markets & Equity Investment: Research and evaluate listed companies and equity securities; identify and recommend attractive domestic and international opportunities. Develop investment theses based on fundamentals, valuation, growth prospects, competitive position, market conditions and risk. Determine appropriate entry/exit points and monitor positions, recommending hold, increase, reduce or exit decisions. US & International Markets: Maintain strong knowledge of US and international equity markets, major exchanges, indices, sectors and market drivers. Assess the impact of interest rates, inflation, monetary policy, earnings, geopolitical developments, market sentiment and sector rotation. Analyse US-listed companies and identify opportunities arising from valuation gaps and changing market conditions. Research, Financial Analysis & Valuation: Analyse financial statements, earnings, business models, management, industries and competitive positioning. Build financial models and perform scenario/sensitivity analysis. Apply appropriate valuation techniques including DCF, comparable companies, P/E, EV/EBITDA, Price/Book and free-cash-flow analysis. Determine whether securities are fairly valued, undervalued or overvalued. Portfolio Management &Trading: Support portfolio construction, position sizing, diversification, monitoring and rebalancing within approved mandates. Execute/support approved equity transactions, monitor execution and transaction costs, and maintain accurate trade and portfolio records. Monitor portfolio performance, risk, concentration, drawdowns and changes in investment thesis. Investment Recommendations & Due Diligence: Conduct financial, commercial, market, management, governance and risk due diligence. Prepare concise Investment Memos / Investment Committee Papers covering thesis, valuation, expected return, risks, downside, catalysts, exit considerations and recommendation. Make clear recommendations to INVEST / HOLD / REDUCE / EXIT / DECLINE, subject to approval authorities. Opportunity Sourcing & Reporting: Build a pipeline of qualified investment opportunities and develop relationships with relevant market participants. Prepare timely portfolio, performance and market-intelligence reports for management and the Investment Committee. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, investment management, business administration, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline. Minimum 5–8 years of relevant professional investment experience. Demonstrable experience in public-markets investing, equity research, portfolio management, asset management, investment banking, proprietary investment, or a related professional investment environment. Strong hands-on experience in stock selection, equity research, portfolio construction, position sizing, trade execution, portfolio monitoring and investment risk management. Professional experience trading and managing equity positions on behalf of an investment/asset management, capital management, brokerage, securities or other professional investment organisation is strongly preferred. Strong financial modelling, valuation, Excel and financial-statement analysis skills. CFA, CIS, ACA/ACCA, CIMA, MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage. Strong knowledge of US and international equity markets is a core requirement. The successful candidate should be comfortable analysing US-listed equities, major exchanges and indices such as the S&P 500, Nasdaq and Dow Jones, and understanding the effect of macroeconomic conditions, Federal Reserve policy, corporate earnings, valuation cycles and global capital flows on investment decisions. Experience analysing or managing US-listed equity investments is highly desirable. What Will Make You Stand Out: A demonstrable track record in professional equity investing or portfolio management. Meaningful experience managing an investment portfolio or investment book. Strong stock-picking/security-selection capability and experience analysing US-listed companies. Experience preparing Investment Committee papers and defending investment theses with evidence and valuation. Evidence of investment recommendations that generated attractive risk-adjusted returns. Strong understanding of downside protection, capital preservation and disciplined portfolio management. Key Success Measures: Quality and performance of investment recommendations and selected securities. Portfolio return, risk-adjusted return and performance against approved benchmarks. Quality of research, financial models, valuations and Investment Committee papers Effective portfolio monitoring, risk management and timely rebalancing/exit decisions. Quality and conversion of the investment opportunity pipeline. Compliance with investment mandates, approval limits and governance requirements. The Ideal Candidate: We are not looking simply for an accountant who understands investments or a personal stock trader who follows the market. We want an investment professional who combines Fundamental Research + Financial Analysis + Valuation + Stock Selection + Portfolio Management + Market Intelligence + Risk Management + Investment Execution We want someone who can look at a potential investment and answer: should Famous Capital put its money here and why? Which stocks should we invest in, at what price, in what amount, for what expected return, with what risks, and under what conditions should we exit?” What return should we reasonably expect, and what is the downside? When should we increase, hold, reduce or exit a position? How does an investment fit into the overall portfolio? What is happening in US and international markets that could affect our investment? Decision Making & Authority: The role operates within the investment mandate, policies, risk parameters, and delegated authorities approved by Famous Capital and Famous Holdings. The role holder makes professional investment recommendations but does not independently commit company capital beyond approved authority limits. Matters requiring higher approval are escalated through the Investment Committee / Management / Board framework.
